Fast Castle is in the Scottish Borders, found on Dowlaw Farm, which is a fully organic farm and is situated on the stunning East Berwickshire coast. We have a flock of rare breed Organic Soay sheep that graze the sea cliffs and rugged coast. Every autumn we gather up the Soay flock and market the Lamb as an organic box scheme. This native breed is definitely a speciality meat for that unique occasion. If you are interested in "Slow Food" and "Food miles" this is a meat for you to try and buy!
We have a holiday cottage for rent on the farm. It is self catering and situated right on the coast, with nearby stunning views of the Firth of Forth, across to Fife and St. Abbs Head. Staying here gives you access to an amazing variety of activities. There are surfing beaches at Pease Bay and Coldingham Sands, amazing coastal walks, flora and wildlife on the farm and St. Abbs Head and SCUBA diving at a number of local sites.
If you are more intersted in the history and wildlife of the area, there are many sites of interest. These include Fast Castle, Siccar Point, St. Abbs Head, and the Scottish Seabird Centre to name a few. On the farm we have a huge variety of wildlife and plants, which is helped by being organic. In the spring the sea braes are covered in coastal flora, summer the seabirds nest on the cliffs at Fast Castle and in the winter grey seals pup on the beaches along the coast.
